Ways I Work With Binge Eating

Binge-eating affects both men and women of any age. Eating binges are not a sign that you’re crazy or defective. In fact, it’s an important condition that can be treated. Recovery from binge-eating disorder is possible.

It’s important to understand binging is a symptom, not the problem. The cause of binge-eating may be an unresolved trauma or event in your life. This needs healing and addressing before you can overcome it permanently. The first step to recovery from binge-eating disorder is getting help with underlying issues.

Binge-eating is often more than just overeating; there can be a sense of loss of control. You may feel an urge to binge that is not satisfied until met. This can come from emotional triggers or physical hunger. Treatment and support help break this cycle setting the course of remission entirely!

What Is Binge Eating Disorder?

Binge Eating Disorder is a mental disorder characterized by uncontrolled binge-eating. The general episode features are: 1. A larger intake of food during a short period of time and; 2. The feeling that one cannot stop eating. The sufferer will eat large amounts of food in one sitting, often until feeling uncomfortably full. Binge-eating episodes can occur up to three times per week for six months in duration before meeting the diagnostic criteria for being binge eating disorder. People who struggle with this condition often have other co-existing disorders. This often prevents them from seeking help until it becomes unmanageable. Help should be sought promptly due to its potentially harmful effects on physical health. These include diabetes, obesity, and other chronic illnesses.
